About

Dangerous Goods Advisory Council is an international, non-profit, educational organization promoting safe transportation of hazardous materials/dangerous goods. We were incorporated in 1978.

DGAC provides education, assistance, and information to the private and public sectors through our unique status with regulatory bodies and through the diversity and technical strengths of our membership.  We represent virtually all sectors of the hazmat/dangerous goods transportation industry: shippers of varying sizes, carriers of all modes, container manufacturers and reconditioners, as well as emergency response and waste clean-up companies.

We actively participate in U.S. rulemaking and international regulatory activities, and provide classroom training, webinars, and conferences. DGAC has Observer status at the United Nations Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals, Advisory status at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and Consultative status at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Mission

DGAC promotes the safe transportation of hazardous materials/dangerous goods globally by providing education, assistance and information to the private and public sectors, through our unique status with regulatory bodies, and the diversity and technical strengths of our membership.

Vision

DGAC will be recognized by our membership, our students, the regulated community at large and regulatory authorities as:

* An effective advocate for responsible regulation of hazardous materials/dangerous goods through consensus building within the              regulated community and through the education of public officials responsible for development of regulations;

* A strong and influential advocate for global hazardous materials/dangerous goods transportation safety; and

* The premier provider of quality training for the transportation of hazardous materials/dangerous goods.
