HMW-150 Preparing Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods for Transportation by Multiple Modes – Initial Training

This 5-day introductory-level course covers the basic skills needed to prepare, offer, and accept shipments of hazardous materials by ground, air, and water. HMW-150 capitalizes on the harmonization between the three different codes to combine three separate courses into one 5-day session, reducing training time and cost. Instruction will focus on non-bulk packages.

Meets applicable requirements for initial and recurrent training.

HMR, DGR and IMDG Code

Note:

  • "HMR" means U.S. DOT's (49 CFR) Hazardous Materials Regulations
  • "DGR" means IATA's Dangerous Goods Regulations
  • "IMDG Code" means IMO's International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code

Prerequisite:

None

Materials Provided by DGAC:

  • A Copy of the HMR
  • A Course Textbook
  • Various handouts including a compliance guide/checklist

Materials Provided by the Student:

  • DGR and IMDG Code
  • A limited number of "loaner" DGRs and IMDG Codes may be available from DGAC for your use during the course.

HMW-150 Optimized for Eastern and Central Time Zones

9 AM – 6 PM Eastern Time Daily

8 AM – 5 PM Central Time Daily

7 AM – 4 PM Mountain Time Daily

6 AM – 3 PM Pacific Time Daily

 

Note: There will be a one-hour lunch break after approximately four hours of class time each day. Breaks will be taken during morning and afternoon sessions.
